In June, the revolutionary leadership center City of Joy celebrated its 17th graduating class. Women leaving the City of Joy have healed themselves, been nurtured, learned new skills, empowered themselves and joined together into a network of love and revolution.The transformation is breathtaking. To date, 1472 women have graduated from City of Joy. 1472 women who have joined a network of love and revolution. 1472 women who have released massive trauma and horrific memories. 1472 women who have danced, sung, learned their rights, performed plays, developed agricultural skills, come to love their bodies. 1472 women who will be leaders in their communities, no longer stigmatized for being raped but instead forces of energy and determination, entrepreneurs of small business, initiators of collectives, restaurants owners, farmers with new land, educators and advocates on sexual violence, volunteers in a self-created recruiting network for new women at COJ, journalists, immigration workers, tailors, university students, herbalists.
